Code of Practice

Practitioner members of the International Christian Association of Natural Therapists Inc. are committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct, health care and patient awareness and will strive:

PROFESSIONALLY

1.      To be honest, accurate and unselfish in treating those in need.

2.      To treat with sympathy, care, without discrimination and in an equitable manner.

3.      To reserve the right to seek a second opinion or test to ensure the best treatment available is given.

4.      To observe carefully any law of the parliament, code of ethics or guide-line of any associated health service.

TO EXPLAIN

5.      In sufficient detail any treatment to be given along with its prognosis.

6.      The action of any therapy to be given and the expected physiological changes.

7.      The action of any substance to be taken orally or as a poultice.

8.      The benefits of any life-style chances.

9.      The peace of mind from a holistic treatment physically, mentally and spiritually.

TO PROTECT PATIENT PRIVACY

10.    To maintain respectability and modesty in all matters of professional examination or treatment.

11.    To observe confidentiality and not to disclose information concerning the patient without their consent unless strictly in accordance with the exceptions recognised by law - the compulsion of law, public interest or  interest of any health service.

12.    To obtain only that information which is necessary to be able to determine a professional health assessment and any following actions which may affect the resulting treatment.

13.    By not giving non-personal patient details to any other person or organization.

TO IMPLEMENT HYGIENIC PROCEDURES

14.    To ensure, through the strictest methods, that there is every precaution taken to prevent possible contamination from other patients or health workers.
15.    To ensure all hygienic measures are carried out without exposing the patient to any harmful substances and where possible a non-poisonous substance be used.

16.    To provide the necessary hygienic services that will ensure patient comfort during treatment.

TO RESPOND TO CHANGES

17.          To provide a health care service that may change from time to time as research, professional therapies and therapeutic goods are introduced or deleted which shall improve the Christian health care services provided by members of this International Christian Association.
